Commute first
The shortest commutes to Micron, ranked
Micron's campus sits on Boise's southeast edge, so the clock starts there. Typical one-way drive times put SE Boise first, Meridian and Kuna next along the freeway corridor, and Mountain Home as the farther-but-affordable option.
These are typical, non-peak estimates, not official statistics. I-84 peak traffic and winter weather can add 10 to 20 minutes. The full ranking with neighborhood detail is on the neighborhoods page.

New construction vs resale
The builder's brochure won't tell you everything
New homes are everywhere in the Treasure Valley, but the sticker price is rarely the out-the-door price. Lot premiums, upgrades, landscaping, timelines, and first-year tax bills all add up. We wrote down what buyers actually discover, in plain English.

Questions every Micron relocator asks
Where is Micron's Boise campus, and how long is the commute from each town?
Micron's campus is at 8000 S. Federal Way in southeast Boise. Typical one-way drives are 5 to 15 minutes from SE Boise neighborhoods, 25 to 40 minutes from Meridian, 30 to 45 minutes from Kuna, and 45 to 55 minutes from Mountain Home. See the neighborhoods page for the full ranking.
Which towns are best for an easy Micron commute?
SE Boise neighborhoods such as Columbia Village, Mayfield Springs, and the Harris Ranch area are closest, then Meridian and Kuna along the freeway corridor. Mountain Home is the farthest but most affordable option.
What do homes cost in the Treasure Valley right now?
Recent public reports put county medians around $580K in Ada County, $433K in Canyon County, and $339K in Elmore County near Mountain Home, with big variation town by town. Prices change every quarter, so always ask for current pricing.
Should I buy new construction or a resale home?
It depends on your timeline, budget, and risk tolerance. New builds offer customization and warranties but take months to complete and often surprise buyers with lot premiums, upgrade costs, and first-year tax bills. Our new vs resale page walks through both sides honestly.
