Commute & neighborhoods
The best neighborhoods for the easiest Micron commute
Micron's Boise campus sits at 8000 S. Federal Way on the city's southeast edge, so the shortest commutes belong to SE Boise. From there the drive gets longer as you move west: Meridian and Kuna work well for most people, and Mountain Home is the farther-but-affordable option for a committed few.

Reading the map
Why the commute math works this way
The Treasure Valley is a long east-west valley. Micron's campus sits on the southeast edge of Boise, just off I-84 near Columbia Road, so every western suburb pays for its distance on the freeway.
-
SE Boise is the zero-commute zone. Columbia Village, Mayfield Springs, Surprise Valley, and the Harris Ranch area are on local roads, minutes from the campus gate.
-
I-84 is the spine. Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, and Mountain Home all feed onto the same freeway heading east to the campus. Peak-hour traffic is the variable that stretches 40 minutes into an hour.
-
Winter rewrites the map. The valley averages 18 to 22 inches of snow, and the Mountain Home stretch of I-84 deals with ice, fog, and occasional closures. Budget winter margin in any commute, especially west of the city.
